The Brown County Fair Association membership barbecue set for Monday marks the beginning of the 44th annual Brown County Rodeo week. Activities will span seven days, starting with the barbecue from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Home Economics building at the Youth Fair grounds, and culminating with the downtown Rodeo Parade at 10 a.m. July 29.

The Brown County Rodeo, hosted by the Brown County Fair Association, is a three-night event, held at the Earl Q. Wilson Rodeo Arena. Shows begin at 8 p.m. and run Thursday, Friday and Saturday, July 26, 27 and 28. Events will be bull riding, bareback, saddle bronco, team roping, steer wrestling, calf roping, girls barrel racing and girls breakaway. All rodeo events are sanctioned by UPRA, CPRA and TCRA. Buster Berry is this year’s rodeo clown, and Miss Rodeo Texas will also be feeatured.

The rodeo dance, held on the final night of the rodeo, will be at the Brownwood Coliseum. The Eli Young Band is headlining the dance with Butler Hall opening. Doors will open at 8 p.m., July 28. Tickets are $15 in advance, and are available at Citizens National Bank and TexasBank, and KOXE, or will also be sold for $20 at the door. A $10 cooler fee will be charged.
