Bulletin Staff Report
Bobby Rountree reported to work Monday as Brownwood’s new city manager, and his calendar for the week filled up quickly.
While Monday was his first official day on the job, he has made numerous visits to City Hall since Brownwood City Council members unanimously chose him on Aug. 14 as Kevin Carruth’s successor.
Rountree attended last month’s budget workshops, as well as the Aug. 28 and Sept. 11 council meetings.
Rountree, 58, was working as Goldthwaite’s city manager when Brownwood council members voted to hire him.
“I will say that I have enjoyed working with him,” City Finance Director Walter Middleton said. “He is very level-headed and very serious, and I think he’ll be a real asset for the city.”
