A Brookesmith man told deputies a woman beat him up, then threw him through a window with the help of her cousin, but he was the one who went to jail.
Royal Spurger, 43, was booked into the Brown County Jail Saturday morning on an assault charge, jail records state.
A woman told deputies she was assaulted in a home in an incident that began in her home around 3 a.m. Saturday, a report by deputy John Fincher states. She said she and her assailant had both been drinking, and he was angry that she had not brought him food and cigarettes during his lunch break at work.
She said he threw things around and broke a window, Fincherís report states. The man choked her and twisted her wrist, and she bit his arm and managed to get away from him, the woman told Fincher.
She went out to her car and started to drive away, and the man held onto the car door and was dragged, Fincherís report states.
The woman went to Brownwood Regional Medical Center for treatment for injuries, and Fincher and deputy Scott Bird went to the home to check on the man. He had scrapes on his knees and feet and said he was trying to get his money from the woman, he stood in front of her car and she ran over him, Fincherís report states.
