A public hearing that had been set for Tuesday on the City of Brownwood’s proposed $29.34 million budget will not take place that day, but will be on the agenda for the council’s Sept. 11 meeting, Finance Director Walter Middleton said.

He said the hearing has been delayed to allow more time to prepare documents related to the hearing.

Council members balanced the budget for the 2007-’08 fiscal year in workshops earlier this month.

The proposed budget, which is 7 percent larger than the 2006-’07 budget of $27.41 million, calls for a reduction in the property tax rate but increases in water, sewer and sanitation rates.
