Brownwood Regional Medical Centerís Senior Circle chapter, formerly Active Advantage, is celebrating its kickoff with a special celebration from 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday. There will be more than 30 booths offering education and information at the Adams Street Community Center, as well as a slate of informational programs offered by area health care professionals.

The free programs, which will run about 45 minutes each, will feature 1 p.m., Pat Locks, memory techniques for seniors; 1:45 p.m., Dr. Daniel Alstatt, incontinence in seniors; 2:30 p.m., Dr. Rance Boren, recognizing Alzheimerís Disease and treatments; 3:15 p.m., Dr. Marlin Strefling, knee replacements in seniors; and 4 p.m., Lisa Dick, healthy diabetic eating.

Free screenings offered at the event will include hearing, vision, blood pressure, total cholesterol, glucose count and hemoglobin count.

Information that will be available includes how to sign up for Senior Circle; information about services and referrals from the Area Agency on Aging; assistance with electric and gas bills from Central Texas Opportunities; Medicare and Medicaid eligibility; information and enrollment in the VA healthcare system; seniors to work ó learning skills; immunization information; low cost and free meals from the Senior Citizens Center/Loaves and Fishes; public transit system; family support system for families facing Alzheimerís and Parkinsonís diseases as well as the ostomy support group; widow(ers) support group; the importance of exercise; senior discounts for auto insurance; medical equipment; Good Samaritanís programs; information about healthy living; mammogram and bone density information; living wills; signing up to be a volunteer.

The event is free and open to the public aged 50 years and older.
