Bulletin Staff Report

Brownwood City Council members have scheduled two special meetings this week to interview candidates for the vacant city managerís position.

The council has posted called meeting notices for 5 p.m. today and again at 5 p.m. Tuesday at city hall.

The notice indicates the council may enter a closed executive session to conduct the interviews, and would return to open session to take any action as a result of the executive session. But officials have previously said a decision might not be made until after Aug. 13.

In July, city officials said six of the 18 individuals who applied had been chosen for interviews. They are Paul Catoe, city manager in Colorado City since July 2004; Christopher Coffman, director of local government services for the Panhandle Regional Planning Commission in Amarillo since December 2004; Gary Dumas, director of operations (deputy city administrator) in Fayetteville, Ark., since May 2001; Candi Hubert, city manager in Balch Springs since October 2004; Bobby Rountree, city manager in Goldthwaite since April 2000; and Jeffrey Thompson, who worked as city manager in Aransas Pass until November 2006.
