BANGS — Deputy State Fire Marshal Don Turk is working with local fire investigators to determine the cause of a house fire near Bangs on Aug. 2.

The house at 4051 County Road 147 belonged to Gerald Luckey, but was not occupied and under renovation at the time of the fire, Turk said.

“We do not believe that the house renovation had reached a point that would require a large amount of flammable materials,” Turk said Thursday.

He declined to give any additional information because the investigation is still under way.

Firefighters from Bangs, Brownwood and Lake Brownwood all responded to the house fire but were unable to prevent the total loss of the house.
