EARLY — The Early City Council will consider adopting the budget for the 2009-’10 fiscal year , ratifying the property tax rate and amending water rates at 6 tonight.
Council members agreed earlier to set the tax rate at 53.81 cents per $100 valuation, up from the current rate of 50.97 cents. The new rate will generate $43,513 in additional revenue and will add about $25 to the annual tax bill on a $90,000 home, council members have been told.
Council members will hold a public hearing on the budget before voting to adopt it. The budget was expected to be about $4.5 million, City Administrator Ken Thomas said earlier.
Other agenda items include considering releasing Bla’zen, who was retired recently as the Early Police Department’s drug dog, to officer Johnny Brown.
