Two people were arrested Wednesday evening following a disturbance involving members of two families in the 300 block of West Anderson.

One man told police he was threatened by another man who had a hammer, and a man said he was shoved, a report by officer Danny Hutchins states.

Charles Brewer, 59, of Brownwood was booked into the Brown County Jail on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, jail records state.

Patrick Brewer, 26, was jailed on an assault charge.

Officer Zane Taylor arrested Karen Benton, 46, of Bangs on a theft charge after an attempted shoplifting of $119 worth of items from Wal-Mart. Officer Brandon Arnold arrested Brenda Holland, 55, of Brownwood on a disorderly conduct charge after he was dispatched to the 500 block of Melwood to investigate a theft complaint. Deputy Shawn Dibrell arrested Crystal Holck, 27, of Brownwood on a charge of possession of under 2 ounces of marijuana. Dibrell arrested Holck at a home in the 300 block of Maple when he went there in search of a wanted person.
