A Brownwood man was indicted on charges of retaliation and tampering with a witness in connection with a robbery trial that began Monday.

The Brown County Grand Jury returned the indictment on Sept. 6 against Stephonze Rea Balfour, who was one of three people indicted earlier in the Jan. 14 robbery and shooting of a Lake Brownwood man.

Balfour has already pleaded guilty in the robbery case and been sentenced to 15 years in prison. Balfour also said in court that he is accepting a plea deal in the retaliation and witness tampering cases that will bring terms of 10 years in prison and two years in state jail, District Attorney Micheal Murray said.
