BANGS – Texans Inc., the “lamp plant” that operated for three decades in Bangs, became known internationally for its TV lamps. But, this year the table lamps will be the focus of Saturday’s fifth annual lamp show, to be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the community room of TexasBank in Bangs.

At the event, which will also bring together former employees of what was a major industry in Bangs, 28 table lamps produced in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s by Texans Inc. will be featured. The table lamps feature fiberglass lamp shades, also designed and made in Bangs. These lamp shades are considered collectible, since most have not survived the years since they were first created.

Other items of interest at the lamp show will include original articles dating back to 1951, that document the history of the lamp factory. In addition, many posters will outline the history of the factory as well as, nearly 500 photos of the actual products. Some original sales catalogues will also be available to view.

Not only will those who attend be able to view the history and the actual lamps, they will have the opportunity to purchase lamps from collectors.

A story earlier this week incorrectly stated that the TV lamps would be the centerpiece of this year’s event.
