Bulletin Staff Report
“Are you ready?”
The question may sound rhetorical, but it’s also a sort of battle cry for Early Longhorn football players, fans, cheerleaders and members of the band.
The Longhorns’ season opens at 7:30 p.m. Friday, at home, against Cisco. And, on Sept. 7, the ’Horns and fans travel to Crawford for an 8 p.m. game.
But on Sept. 8, it’s get ready for some good ol’ spirit-building fun. The annual Purple Day had to be scheduled later than usual, but plans are in place, and the event will be held, starting at 6 p.m., that Saturday, at McDonald Field.
As is tradition, a hamburger supper will be available, and also, this year, there will be watermelon.
Athletes and coaching staffs from both the middle school and high school will be presented and cheerleaders, members of the Stampede, band members and drill team will be recognized.
After the meal and introductions are finished, everyone will have plenty of time to go out on the field to visit, mingle and participate in the events.
Plans include lots of children activities, fun booths and games. Also people will be able to shop for their purple and gold Longhorn attire — everything from shirts and sweatshirts to caps and jackets will be for sale. The 2007 athlete buttons will be available.
Also during the Purple Day activities Little Longhorns and Spirit Sisters will connect with their player and cheerleader partner.
As a fund-raiser, the Booster Club is holding a silent auction.
