The Texas Department of Public Safety released more details on the Friday traffic accident near Bangs that killed one person and injured six.

Rebecca Kay Ocasio, 34, of Bangs, was pronounced dead at the scene of the two-vehicle accident, which happened at 1:50 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. Highway 67/84 and FM 586.

The accident happened when a 2003 Ford Taurus, traveling north on FM 586, ran a stop sign and drove into the path of a 2007 Chrysler going east on U.S. Highway 67/84, the DPS said. The Chrysler struck the Ford in the driverís door.

Ocasio was a passenger in the Ford, which was driven by Sierra Nickole Stanford, 17, of Bangs, the DPS said. Stanford was flown by helicopter ambulance to Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo. A condition report was unavailable Saturday.

Also injured in the Ford were Hope Michelle Russell, 16, of Brownwood; Reginald Henry Anderson, 29, of Bangs; and Chrystal Renna Stimpson, 21, of Bangs. The three were taken to Brownwood Regional Medical Center.

None of the Fordís occupants wore seat belts, the DPS said.

The Chrysler was driven by Ashley Salinas, 23, of Austin. Brittany Salinas, 14, of Austin was a passenger. They were both taken to the Brownwood hospital, the DPS said.
