Progress is continuing to be made by Brownwood students on the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills, members of the Brownwood school board were told Monday night.

“We are very pleased with the results for Brownwood ISD,” Dr. Sue Jones, superintendent, said. ”All campuses in the district did extremely well and the students, teachers and staff, and administrators are to be commended for their hard work in achieving this success.”

The results were shared with board members during a discussion on planning for next school year.

“As a district, we would like to be at or above 90 percent for each subject and student group, and we have made significant progress toward that goal,” Jones said.

The accompanying chart compares Brownwood students’ collective scores with those staewide. Scores shown in parenthesis are “commended” scores. State scores follow at each grade level. High school 9th, 10th and 11th grade scores are students who are on the high school campus. All 9th, 10th, and 11th grade scores include the Accelerated High School scores.

Scores at each grade level/campus are for all students. Once scores are pulled out for those students who were not here in October, they may be higher, Jones said.
