David R. Flynn, age 64, died Tuesday, July 22, 2008, in Coleman. A wake in honor of his life will be held at a future date, but a memorial service will not be held.

David R. Flynn was born Dec. 27, 1943, in Warrington, England, a son of Ben A. Flynn and Olive Stanger Flynn. He moved with his family to Coleman in 1961 and graduated from Coleman High School in 1962. David graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelor of Science Degree and graduated from Trinity University with a Master's Degree in Hospital Administration. From 1968 until 1977, he was hospital administrator in Memphis, Tenn., during the time that Methodist Hospital Whitehaven was being built. He also served as a co-administrator for the Methodist Hospital System. While living in Memphis he was named Jaycee of the Year. In 1977 he moved to Dallas and lived there for more than 30 years. He was a partner in Flynn Brothers Inc., an executive search company. He was one of the founders of the Coleman Invitational Golf Tournament at the Coleman Country Club.

Survivors include two daughters, Alissa Hohmann and husband Dan of Coleman, Teresa Edgar and husband Kevin of Celina; one son, Ben J. Flynn and wife Christine of Coleman; two brothers, Bennie Flynn of Coleman, Larry Flynn and wife Jean of Southlake; five grandchildren, Brice and Allison Edgar, Ryan and Jacob Hohmann, Grace Edgar; niece and nephew, Sarah and Tyler Flynn.

He was preceded in death by a son, David Rae Flynn Jr. in 1971 and by his parents, Ben and Olive Flynn.
