Sheriff’s deputies arrested two people early Sunday morning on drug charges after receiving a tip of narcotics trafficking in a local motel room.

Deputies seized more than an ounce of methamphetamine and “several thousand dollars” in cash after arresting the pair at the Days Inn, sheriff’s Sgt. Tony Aaron said.

Deputies arrested Lonicio Carrillo, 23, and Nikki Peel, 19, both of Brownwood on one charge each of manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance, Brown County Jail records state. Peel was also charged with possession of under 2 ounces of marijuana.

They remained jailed Monday in lieu of $100,000 bonds.

Deputies arrested the pair around 4:30 a.m., Aaron said. Deputies arrested Carrillo first after finding him in his vehicle outside the motel, then arrested Peel in the room they shared.

Deputies found items including packaging and scales that were indicative of trafficking, Aaron said.
