Bulletin Staff Report
The Early City Council will meet in a special called meeting this evening to consider accepting the resignations of two council members, and appointing and swearing in new council members to fill both vacancies.
On Monday, the Charles Matlock was sworn in as a council member by Early city secretary Deloris Walker. Matlock fills the position vacated by William Kelcy, who resigned June 10. With Matlock officially seated on the council, there is a quorum, which will allow appointments to be made.
In the meeting this evening, the council will consider accepting resignations from David Gray, who submitted his letter of resignation on Wednesday, and Pat Drew, who resigned on Thursday.
If two council members are appointed at today’s meeting, the majority of council members on the council will have been appointed to their seats, not elected.
The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. in the Early City Hall, 960 Early Blvd.
