Bulletin Staff Report
The names of local men and women serving in the U.S. armed forces will be read during the fifth annual candlelight prayer service held in their honor today.
The families of Mario Castillo, Craig Ledsome and Marieo Guerrero, servicemen with family ties to Brown County who died during their service in Iraq, will be special guests for the service.
The event will begin at 6 p.m. today at the Margaret and Stuart Coleman Plaza in front of the Depot Civic and Cultural Center.
Eric Evans is coordinating the program this year, according to Military and Family Support Group volunteer Joyce Leidig.
Some candles will be provided, but those attending might want to bring their own, Leidig said. Lawn chairs are also recommended for those who wish to sit down.
Stevesí Deli and Market has volunteered to provide coffee, wassail and some snacks, Leidig said.
The American Legion has volunteered to help set up the plaza, and other volunteers should contact Steve Korenek, Billy Murphey or James Masters. They may also show up at 4 p.m. at the plaza.
Members for the community choir are also needed. Those interested are asked to arrive at 5:15 p.m.
