Bulletin Staff Report

FEMA representatives will be in Brownwood again next week to accept claims from area residents who suffered damages from heavy rains and flooding earlier this year.

The representative will meet with residents from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. Monday through Friday at Room A of the Brownwood Coliseum, officials announced Wednesday.

Appointments may be made by calling toll-free (800) 621-3362. The number for people with speech and hearing difficulties is (800) 462-7585.

Residents with losses suffered between June 16 and Aug. 3 are eligible to seek governmental disaster assistance, a FEMA public information spokeswoman said. For those unable to meet with the FEMA claims representative next week, applications will continue to be accepted through Oct. 29. That represents an extension of the deadline of two months.

A variety of assistance packages are available to those who suffered losses, and information will be available at the meetings. They include a variety of FEMA and SBA programs, the spokeswoman said.
