Donít expect all the action related to the 44th annual Brown County Rodeo to be centered around the Earl Q. Wilson Arena on the Brady Highway next week. Downtown Brownwood will be the scene for a variety of rodeo week festivities on Saturday, July 28.
The Brown County Rodeo Parade and Spirit of Salsa Festival will begin at 10 a.m. downtown. Entries are still being accepted in several categories. They include riding clubs, floats, antique vehicles, tractors and more. Entering the parade is free. Call Sunni at the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce at (325) 646-9535 to enter or to obtain more information.
The parade will begin at the Brownwood Coliseum and go along Fisk Street, Center Avenue and by the courthouse on Broadway. Residents are encouraged to bring their families and lawn chairs downtown.
Immediately following the parade, the Spirit of Salsa Festival will be held from 11 a.m to 2 p.m. at the Lyric Theater on Center Avenue.
The salsa contest includes commercial and amateur entries and live music. Tickets cost $5 each. Those attending will be allowed to taste the salsa and vote on their favorite entry.
