Brownwood police have a few leads but “nothing solid” in a series of burglaries of coin-operated vending machines over the past three weeks, police Sgt. Troy Carroll said.

He said police are asking anyone with information to notify authorities.

The criminal is using a tool to pry his way into the machines and taking cash, often leaving behind hundreds or thousands of dollars in damage to the machines, police reports have stated.

Carroll did not have a precise count but said numerous burglaries of the machines have occurred all over town.

In other incidents:

• Someone took to surround sound speakers, clothes, and a table with chairs and stools from a home in the 900 block of Lillie Kimble.

• Someone took two televisions from a home in the 1600 block of Avenue C.

• Sheriff’s investigator Scott Bird arrested Caleb Salge, 17, on a charge of possession of marijuana under two ounces as Bird and investigator Carlyle Gover investigated a house burglary.

Bird said investigators are seeking a warrant in the burglary case.
