Acting nervously did not pay off for Jose Ozuna Jr., 25, who was arrested on charges of possession of a prohibited weapon and outstanding warrants from Comal County.

Brownwood Police Officer Kimberly Cantu’s report states that while patrolling in the 1700 block of Southside, she noticed Ozuna, driving a green Ford Explorer “acting suspiciously,” by constantly looking in the rear view mirror.

A license plate check revealed the Explorer’s plates belonged to a 1993 Lincoln. Cantu stopped Ozuna, who said he did not have a driver’s license or insurance. Not under arrest, Ozuna agreed to a vehicle search and was placed in handcuffs for officer safety.

Ozuna was placed under arrest after Cantu was informed by dispatch that Ozuna had two outstanding warrants in Comal County.

Officer Danny Hutchins arrived on scene and during the search, a switchblade, which is considered a prohibited weapon, was located in the console between the driver and passenger seats. Ozuna said the knife belonged to a cousin, but he said he knew it was illegal.

Ozuna was transported to the Brown County Jail and the vehicle was released to his wife.
