Bulletin Staff Report

The community Christmas Candlelight Service to pray for members of the military and their families will be held this week, and singers are urged to arrive early to be part of a community choir.

The service will begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Margaret and Stuart Coleman Plaza in front of the Depot Plaza, Military and Family Support Group volunteer Joyce Leidig said. Prayers will be offered for members of the U.S. Armed Forces, Reserves, National Guard and their families, as well as for world peace and those devastated by war.

Those who are willing to be part of the community choir are asked to arrive at 5:15 p.m. to rehearse.

Candles will be available, but those attending will need to bring a lawn chair. Information is available from Babs Shields at 643-1259 or Leidig at 784-5014 or 646-8712.

Leidig said arrangements for portions of the program are still pending, but among those who have agreed to participate are Eric Evans, the Rev. Ernest Kirk and Pastor Sterling Lenz.
