SAN SABA – The mother and stepfather of a 13-month-old Richland Springs girl who died Nov. 15 at Brownwood Regional Medical Center were arrested on murder warrants Thursday night at their home, San Saba County Sheriff L.A. Brown said.
The mother, Kristi Ann Goode, 21, is in the Brown County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bond, jail records state. She is in the Brown County Jail because the jail in San Saba cannot hold females, Brown said.
The stepfather, Brett Matthew Sealy, 24, is in the San Saba Jail in lieu of $250,000 bond, Brown said.
Brown released few details in the investigation into the death of the girl, Aleesa Koepp. He declined to comment on the cause of the girl’s death but said an autopsy determined the death was a homicide.
San Saba investigators believe the events that caused the girl’s death occurred in the family’s home, Brown said.
Brownwood police Sgt. Troy Carroll said Brownwood police were called to the hospital at 6:45 a.m. Nov. 15, the same morning she was brought there by San Saba EMS. Carroll referred other questions to Brown and would not comment on what type of injuries the girl had sustained.
