EARLY — City council members here probably won’t begin interviewing police chief candidates until after the first of the new year, Early City Administrator Ken Thomas said.
A committee has selected 10 names from the 28 who applied and sent their applications to the Texas Municipal Police Chiefs Association, Thomas said.
He said a committee of the association will rank the 10 applicants for the Early committee. The Early committee should get the rankings “any time,” and the council will decide how many applicants it wants to interview, Thomas said.
He said he expects the council to choose five or fewer for interviews.
The new chief will replace Junior Pinson, who is retiring as chief on Dec. 31.
