Bulletin staff report

The Lyric Performing Arts Company will be holding auditions for “Fiddler on the Roof,” at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Howard Payne University Theatre, not at Brownwood High School as originally announced.

Those trying out for parts are asked to bring sheet music for the selection they would like to sing — preferably something from a musical. An accompanist will be provided. All voice types are needed.

Dr. Nancy Jo Humfeld, who will be directing the play, said auditioners will be asked to sing first, then will be taught a short dance combination, after which they will read from the script.

“There are parts for many adults and some younger folks, but none younger than 15,” Humfeld said. “There are lots of good roles, good chorus involvement in ‘Fiddler.’ There are roles that won’t take as much time and some that will be very time-consuming.”

“Fiddler” will have a 10-performance run, spanning two extended weekends, July 16-19 and July 23-26.

LPAC’s production of Neil Simon’s “Barefoot in the Park,” opens June 25 for a five-performance-in-four-days run.

Details on all LPAC productions and activities are available on the company’s Web site, www.brownwoodlyrictheatre.com.
