BANGS – A busy railroad crossing in Bangs is scheduled to be closed for three days this week while repairs are under way, the Texas Department of Transportation announced.

Alan Ogden, TxDOT’s Brownwood District railroad coordinator, said the Burlington, Northern & Santa Fe Railroad crossing in the Bangs city limits is scheduled to be closed temporarily for the railroad crossing repair project beginning Tuesday and continuing through Thursday.

“Please note that these dates are contingent upon the railroad forces beginning work on time as scheduled, and ending as scheduled,” Ogden said in a prepared statement. “The dates and durations are subject to change.”

During construction, the crossing will be closed to traffic, Ogden explained, and a detour route must be taken by accessing the FM 586 Spur.

A map detailing the exact location of the railroad crossing and the suggested detour is published on Page 6A of today’s Bulletin.

In addition to the Farm to Market Road, several alternate side street routes are available within the City of Bangs, and those are also shown on the drawing.
