Brownwood police are investigating the strong-armed robbery Monday of a 93-year-old man in his home on Duke Street.
No arrests had been made as of Monday afternoon, and police did not have any suspects, police Sgt. Troy Carroll said. He said the victim does not know the man who robbed him of an undetermined amount of cash.
Shortly before noon, a man in his late 20s or early 30s walked into the victim’s home in the 1100 block of Duke, sat down in a chair and asked if he could mow the victim’s yard, Carroll said.
When the victim refused the request, the man asked to borrow $20. The victim refused that request, and the man forced the victim’s head and neck into a couch cushion, reached into his pocket and took money, Carroll said.
“He left the residence on foot,” Carroll said. “We don’t know if he had a bicycle or vehicle or anything like that.”
