Electrical service was interrupted to residences and businesses in the Camp Bowie area Monday morning while Oncor Electric Delivery crews repaired an insulator damaged in an overnight thunderstorm.

Ken Harriss, Oncor area manager, said lightning struck the south Brownwood substation near Superior-Essex during the storm, and service was restored until the repairs could be made this morning.

“We made as many notifications as we could to the industries, schools, nursing homes and businesses in Camp Bowie, because all of them in the industrial area were affected,” Harriss said Monday. “Brownwood Regional Medical Center was not affected, and that was the good part.”

He said the repair began at 8 a.m., and that all service was back to normal around 8:45 a.m. Monday.
