Jury selection is expected to begin this morning in 35th District Court for a man accused of shooting another man in the face on Nov. 16, 2005 in Brownwood.

Maximilian Jaroslav Dohnal was charged with aggravated assault in the shooting that wounded Michael Craig Stump outside what was then known as the Skinny’s convenience store at 1501 Coggin.

Stump was 32 when he was shot shortly after 2 a.m. after buying candy at the store, police have said.

Stump was released from a hospital a few days after the shooting.

Police said at the time of the shooting that they were told of several possible motives.

Police have not commented on what they believe the motive to have been.

Police said Dohnal fled after the shooting and was arrested in Arlington in December 2005.
