Early is gearing up for another street improvement project as warranty work proceeds on the $2.4 million project that was funded last year by a bond issue.
The Early City Council awarded a bid on May 8 to Raydon Construction of Breckenridge for $209,590. The company was the sole bidder.
Plans are to rebuild Sunnydale and the portion of Old Comanche Road that was not part of the larger bond project.
The city could not afford to include all of Old Comanche Road in the bond project, while Sunnydale is a totally new project, Early City Administrator Ken Thomas said.
Work is expected to begin on the new project, which will be paid for from general funds, in two to three weeks, Thomas said.
Prater Equipment of Comanche, meanwhile, was working Tuesday to make warranty repairs to Longhorn and Old Comanche, where tar was bleeding through the asphalt, Thomas said.
