Kari Ann Kelly, daughter of Fred and Jodie Kelly, was named the student Rotarian for May at Brownwood High School.

The 2007 graduate has been a member and officer of the Regional Qualifying and Sweepstakes Award winning Mighty Maroon Marching Band and Symphonic Band for all her four years, playing first chair trombone for the past three years.

She has also been in the state qualifying brass ensemble for the past two years. She has played softball for four years, and was starting first baseman on varsity as a senior. She received the Academic All-District award, and was chosen for the Lion Heart award in softball.

She has also been involved in the Choices mentoring program, National Honor Society, Spanish Club, FFA, Jazz Band, volleyball, basketball and is currently pursuing a private pilotís license.

She is active in her youth group at First United Methodist Church and has been on numerous mission trips. She has been in the youth choir for four years, and a volunteer for vacation Bible school. She has also volunteered for the Brownwood Reunion Celebration.

She graduated magna cum laude and plans to attend Texas A&M to major in biomedical science in the school of veterinary medicine.

Stephen Hopkins was named student Rotarian for May from Early High School.

He participated in Student Council, Key Club, one-act play, FCA and Weather Watchers Club. He was recently named vice president of the Early Chamber of Chamber Junior Ambassadorís Club. He was treasurer of the senior class and National Honor Society.

He played football and baseball all four years in high school, and ran track for three years. He has received school academic awards in algebra and English, and was named to Academic All-State in football for four years.

A member of Early First Baptist Church, he has volunteered with Good Samaritan Ministries, Brownwood Reunion Celebration, Kidís Fun Day and the D.A.R.E. program at the elementary school.

He plans to attend the University of Texas at Austin to study communications.
