A Brownwood teenager argued with his mother, told a police officer to shut up, was shot with a Taser and arrested on a drug and resisting arrest charges, police said.

Richard Torres, 18, was booked into the Brown County Jail Thursday on charges of possession of under 2 ounces of marijuana in a drug free zone and resisting arrest and search, jail records state.

Officer Bryan Keith was dispatched to a home in the 1600 block of Avenue K, where a woman gave him a bag with pipes and a marijuana cigarette, Keith’s report states.

A teen who was present argued with his mother about her being in his room, and Keith tried to tell the teen his mother had a right to search the room if she had reasonable access to it.

“You shut up,” Keith’s report quoted the teen as saying.

Keith took the teen’s arm and told him he was under arrest, and the teen pulled away, telling Keith to “let go of me,” Keith’s report states.

Keith discharged his Taser into the teen’s chest. “I followed him to the ground and placed him into handcuffs, and he did not resist any further at that point,” Keith’s report states.
