Brown County residents will have several opportunities to donate blood in coming days.

The United Blood Services bloodmobile will be in Brownwood on three days next week, and again on Aug. 1.

St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1105 Main St., will be the scene of a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday.

Songbird Lodge, 2500 Songbird Circle, is the site for a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday.

The Ron Jackson State Juvenile Correctional Facility, 700 FM 3254, is the location for next week’s third scheduled local blood drive from 12:20 to 4 p.m. Wednesday.

During July, one pint of blood will turn into $500 for one donor. Anyone who donates on a United Blood Services mobile blood drive during this month will be entered in a drawing for a chance to win a $500 Visa card. All donors will get a free T-shirt, and anyone donating two red blood cells will get a UBS stainless steel Koozie.

Appointments for the July blood drives may be made by calling (800) 756-0024.

August will begin with blood drive sponsored by the Brownwood Rotary Club at Comolli and Ethridge Family Vision Care, 1200 Austin Ave. The bloodmobile will be at the doctors’ parking lot from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

All donor will get a voucher for a free vision screening courtesy of Comolli and Ethridge Vision Care. In addition, all donors will get a free T-shirt, and donors of two red blood cells with get a stainless steel Koozie. Each donor will also be entered into a drawing for a $300 Wal-Mart gift card.

Volunteer donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health.
