An assistant manager at a Brownwood business is free on bond after she was arrested on the job last week in connection with a drug transaction outside the store, police said Tuesday.

Regen Junea Rodden, 30, was booked into the Brown County Jail Thursday on charges of delivery of marijuana and possession of under 2 ounces of marijuana, jail records state.

Police arranged a marijuana transaction involving Rodden at the Payless Shoe Store, 306 W. Commerce, and Rodden was arrested shortly after the 7:45 p.m. transaction, narcotics detective Bruce Spruill said.

He said police found a small amount of marijuana in her purse, which was in an employee/sotrage area in the back of the store.

After Rodden was arrested, police served a search warrant at her apartment at Camelot Apartments and found marijuana, digital scales, and $1,200, Spruill said.

A woman who answered the phone at Payless would not say whether Rodden still works there.
