Bulletin Staff Report

The Brownwood Amateur Radio Club (BARC) will compete in the 2008 Field Day for 24 hours beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday at the American Red Cross building, 600 E. Adams St., Brownwood.

The objective of the nationwide competition is for local radio emergency services to test their gear and equipment under emergency field conditions.

To test their equipment, radio emergency services must attempt to contact as many amateur radio stations the United States and Canada using different frequency bands and modes.

Everyone is welcome to stop by and see how it all works, or even get a chance to get on the air or send a message across the country or around the world.
