Bulletin Staff Report

Monday’s busy first day of early voting was no fluke. The second day of the two-week period leading up to the Nov. 4 general election proved to be busier than the first, Suzy Young, Brown County elections administrator, said.

Tuesday’s count of 785 was 14 more than the first day, Young said, bringing the two-day total to 1,556. Not included in the number are the mail-in ballots, of which 800 have been sent out. More than 600 have already been returned.

Early voters are reminded to bring their voter registration card if they have it. Registered voters who have misplaced their card will still be allowed to vote, but they need to have proper identification. Having the card expedites the process, however.

Early voting continues through Friday, Oct. 31, at the Brownwood Coliseum Annex. Hours at the early voting site are 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. weekdays. The polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, and from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
