A Santa Anna man remained in the Brown County Jail Tuesday on charges of aggravated kidnapping, evading arrest with a vehicle and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after a weekend domestic disturbance.

Brandon Fitzpatrick, 28, was arrested early Sunday morning on the charges and his bonds totaled $135,000, jail records state.

Sheriff’s deputies were assisting Brownwood police at 1:25 a.m. with a “rolling domestic” that made it to a Brownwood residence, a report by deputy James Stroope states.

A woman told Stroope she was riding in a car with her ex-boyfriend between Bangs and Brownwood when the dispute began. The man ordered her out the car and she started to walk home, and the man dragged her back into the car, Stroope’s report states.

The woman told Stroope she was scared because the man had already shown her that he had a gun in the car. The man grabbed her, placed a pistol to her head and said he would kill her, the report states.

The man drove her to her home in the 1100 block of High Mesa, then drove away after threatening to kill himself and anyone who tried to stop him.

Deputies saw the suspect driving his Volkswagen Jetta heading toward Brownwood on County Road 180. Stroope followed the car until it reached the intersection of High Mesa and FM 3254, and Stroope saw that the driver turned left in an attempt to make it back to the victim’s residence, Stroope’s report states.

Stroope activated his patrol car’s emergency lights and siren, but the driver did not stop until he was at the victim’s home. Deputies removed the driver at gunpoint and handcuffed him, and Brownwood police arrived, Stroope’s report states.

The driver told deputies he had thrown a gun out of the car after seeing patrol cars. Deputies used a metal detector in the area where he said he threw it but could not find the gun, Stroope’s report states.

The suspect told Stroope he’d had a bad night and was drunk, and said he guessed he’d “messed up,” the report states.
