Brown County Precinct 1 Commissioner Steve Adams has announced he is seeking reelection in 2012.
Adams has served as Precinct 1 commissioner since 1992. He was the first Republican elected in Brown County.
"I feel that this may have helped initialize the development and conservative ideals and values in Brown County," he said.
"I am active in all aspects of the Commissioners Court," Adams said. "I try to see that my decisions and actions are made in the best interest for the taxpayers of Brown County. I feel that my experience and knowledge are going to be key factors when determining the best qualified candidate."
Adams has always lived in Brown County. He graduated from Brownwood High School and attended Tarleton State University. He lives in Winchell with his wife and their daughter Kassidy.
"My entire family has been very supportive of my political aspirations throughout the years," Adams said. "I feel confident that I have the credentials to continue serving the people of Brown County in positive and productive ways.
"We are constantly improving the roads in all areas of Precinct 1. Currently we are crushing our own limestone rock, which has proven to be very cost effective. Our equipment has been upgraded dramatically since I've taken office," he said.
Road maintenance and upkeep are on a constantly rotating schedule, Adams said.
"We do our very best to respond immediately to any complaints or emergency repairs that are needed during work hours, holidays or weekends," Adams said.
He added that Precinct 1 takes full advantage of the jail work crew.
"There are inmates who are knowledgeable in different fields and have been able to apply that knowledge and those skills by working for the county," Adams said. "Currently our jail crews have helped us to widen culverts and bridges on our most traveled roads and low water crossings have been reformed and poured with concrete."
Adams said, "Nineteen years ago I made the citizens of Brown County a promise that the decisions that I made as commissioner would be with the best interests of our citizens in mind. I have kept that promise.
"It has been an honor to serve as your county commissioner. I thank you for that and ask for your support and vote in the Republican Primary March 6, 2012."
