Good Samaritan Ministries' food bank continued to give out food Friday morning, but its clothing store was packed as it holds a massive sale to clear the racks and shelves on the final day of business for 2011.

All clothing costs 10 cents per item, all Christmas items cost 5 cents each and all winter coats are half-price, Executive Director Angelia Bostick said. Proceeds from the sale will go to the general operations fund of Good Samaritan Ministries.? But the food bank and clothing store will only be open 2 p.m. today. Then they will close for the year.

Those who have not picked up groceries for December along with their Christmas box have only a few hours to do so. But traffic was slow Friday morning, officials said, so it appears most had come by early to ensure their meal was in hand.

Anyone who would like to make a donation of food, clothing or money, may also do so during that time. GSM will close at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 23, and reopen at 9 a.m. Monday, Jan. 2, to give staff and volunteers time to spend with their families during the Christmas holidays.? Donations may still be mailed to P.O. Box 1136, Brownwood, TX 76804.?

Officials ask that clothing donations not be left when the offices are closed. There is no drop off bin and clothing left on the sidewalk gets stolen and scattered. ?

The ministry will be open to receive those donations again at 9 a.m. Monday, Jan. 2.
