ABILENE - The Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas Board recognized Chance Barr of Brownwood for outstanding service and commitment during his two-year term as board chairman, just ended
The recognition came during the board's Aug. 17 meeting in Abilene.
Barr, along with his father, Bo Barr and stepmother, Sandra Barr, own and operate Barr Fabrication, a manufacturing company deeply rooted in the wind energy industry. The company specializes in components for wind towers and turbines.
Chance Barr is also an owner in Barr Fabrication Field Services and McDermett Milner (a management company).
Barr will continue to serve as a member of the Board, providing his leadership and experience as a businessman in the private sector.
"As former board chair, I hope we have grown stronger as a region by continuing to open lines of communication between businesses, education, economic development and the workforce," Barr said.
The Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas Board is one of 28 boards in the state charged with oversight and policy-making responsibility for workforce and training programs in a 19-county region. Its website is www.workforcesystem.org.
