Wade Brown of May, a former high school teacher and a major in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, has announced that he will seek the Republican nomination for U.S. House of Representatives from the 11th District.
That office is currently held by four-term Congressman Mike Conaway of Midland.
"My primary issues will be the national debt and fiscal policy," Brown said Friday.
Brown said he left active duty in the Marines in order to seek public office "because these issues are so important for our country."
Brown has been married for 19 years, and has four children.
"I want them to grow up in a strong America," he said.
Candidates will not officially begin filing as candidates in the 2012 primaries until late this year.
Brown said a website is being developed for his campaign. Meanwhile, his email is email@example.com.
