The drought goes on, the level of Lake Brownwood continues to fall, and restrictions in outdoor watering are likely to get tighter soon.

That was the word from Brownwood City Manager Bobby Rountree at Tuesday's city council meeting. Rountree said area drought contingency plans will go to Stage 3 when Lake Brownwood falls to the 1,410 foot level, and it is currently at 1,410.7 feet, Rountree said.

He said representatives of treated water customers met Monday with Dennis Spinks, general manager of the Brown County Water Improvement District. Spinks estimates the lake will fall to 1,410 feet within a matter of days, Rountree said.

Spinks said by phone Tuesday afternoon that Stage 3 will likely occur in 10 to 12 days.
