The 18-year-old suspect in a May 18 stabbing that critically wounded a Brownwood man was indicted on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The July session of the Brown County Grand Jury returned the indictment against Manuel Edward Mantos, who remains jailed in lieu of $100,000 bond, according to information from District Attorney Micheal Murray's office and jail records.

Seaver Ray Roper Jr., 21, was stabbed in the abdomen and upper body multiple times at a home in the 900 block of Sharp, police said earlier. Roper was airlifted to Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene, where he was discharged three days later.

Investigation at the scene revealed that Roper arrived at the home shortly before 6 a.m. and confronted a former girlfriend and her current boyfriend, identified as Mantos, police said, and a confrontation between the two males resulted in the stabbing of Roper.

Grand jurors returned two indictments against Mario Humberto Delarosa, 58, for continuous sexual abuse of a young child or children.

Delarosa is accused of having sexual contact with two girls who once lived near him, according to Brown County Jail records and court documents.
