A Brownwood woman was arrested Wednesday on allegations that she had sexual contact with a male child who is a relative and forced or encouraged him to ingest marijuana.
Brownwood police arrested Catherine Louise Armstrong, 34, on three warrants, Brown County Jail records state. The warrants are:
• Continuous sexual abuse of a child, with bond set at $100,000.
• Aggravated sexual assault of a child and two counts of indecency with a child, with bond set at $100,000.
• Abandon/endanger a child, with bond set at $15,000.
Armstrong remained jailed Thursday morning.
Police began investigating the case against Armstrong on Sept. 11 after detective Trey Weathermon received a CPS intake report, a complaint filed in Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace Jim Cavanaugh court states. The report stated a boy had told a counselor about sexual abuse that began at an unknown date and continued until late 2010. The abuse occurred in a home and in a rest room at Coggin Park.
The boy reported that another adult, a male, had been physically abusive toward him.
He also reported that the male and Armstrong forced him to smoke out of a pipe with the two. The boy said he was forced to "smoke something that looked like grass," gave him triple vision and made him have trouble walking.
"This description would leave me to believe that the child was made to ingest marijuana," Weathermon's complaint states.
Weathermon is seeking to have charges brought against the male, the complaint states.
