Brown County Sheriff Bobby Grubbs released details Thursday afternoon about two unrelated investigations into the receipt and distribution of child pornography, one of them involving the arrest of a 71-year-old Brownwood man.

Sheriff's deputies have assisted other agencies in two major investigations over the past few weeks, Grubbs said in a press release.

According to the release:

Deputies assisted investigators with the Texas Attorney General's Office Wednesday in the execution of a search warrant at 2506 Greenway in Brownwood. David E. Simpson, 71, was arrested and charged with seven counts of possession of child pornography. Investigators seized evidence to support the distribution and possession of child pornography.

The Attorney General's Office is the lead agency

Simpson remained jailed Thursday in lieu of $10,000 bond.

On Tuesday, deputies assisted the U. S. Department of Homeland Security, Immigration, Customs and Enforcement (ICE) in the execution of a federal search warrant in rural Brown County, at 8010 County Road 606 in the Lake Brownwood area.

Investigators seized evidence to support the distribution and possession of Child Pornography was also seized by investigators. No arrests were made at the residence, but arrests are expected in the near future as the investigation continues. Sheriff's officials are conducting forensic analysis of computers.

ICE is the lead agency.

In both of these cases, the investigations are ongoing by the lead agencies and with the Brown County Sheriff's Office's assistance. It is fully expected that additional arrests will be made as the investigations continue to develop.
