Ray served in WWII and was stationed in New Caledonia, South Pacific. After Ray returned from the service he and Sallie married in Rising Star on Dec. 25, 1946. They resided in Houston while working in the Hutchinson family flooring business. In June of 1960, they returned to Rising Star and started their own flooring business.

Ray was a member of the Rising Star Church of Christ. Ray never passed up an opportunity to travel, especially to Colorado. It is the place where they loved to go. One of Ray’s greatest passions was his workmanship of beautiful flooring and more. He took great pride in his work of putting down new flooring in homes and businesses knowing it would be there for generations to see and enjoy. But the thing that Ray absolutely loved to do the most, was to have conversations with others. Ray seemed to never meet a stranger and he would visit with them for as long as time would allow. Ray loved to visit!
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested consideration of donations to be made to Alameda Cemetery or the Rising Star church of Christ in memory of Ray.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, May 18, 2017 at the Rising Star Church of Christ. Service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 18, 2017 at the Rising Star Church of Christ followed by the burial at the Alameda Cemetery, Eastland County.
