Funeral services for Zelda Loretta Waldon, 91, of Early, will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 20, 2017 at the Heartland Funeral Home in Early, with Bro. Eddie Ailshie officiating. Interment will follow in the Eastlawn Memorial Park in Early. The family will receive friends at 9:30 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Waldon passed away Thursday, May 18, 2017 at the Brownwood Regional Medical Center.

Zelda was born on June 19, 1925 in Caradan, to Johnny Lee and Myrtle Mae Obenhaus Stewart and was a graduate of Goldthwaite High School. On March 6, 1946, she married Miles C. Waldon in De Leon, and he preceded her in death on Aug.11, 2005. During her working career Zelda worked at the Telephone Company, Walgreens, school cafeteria, and Wal-Mart until her retirement in 2000. Zelda was a member at the Early First Baptist Church, and a volunteer with the Good Samaritan organizations.

She is survived by her children: Paula Clarkson and husband Marty of Munford, Tennessee, John Waldon of Bangs, Janet Emerson and husband Gayland of Stephenville, and Roger Waldon of Lake Brownwood; sisters: Maxine Ship of Hico, and Dalma Brown of Dallas; one brother: Dalma Brown of Dallas; 18 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and by numerous nieces and nephews

She was preceded in death by her parents: Johnny Lee Stewart and Myrtle Stewart Touchstone; husband; and son: Miles Lee Waldon, who passed away in 1956.
