Sybil Proctor Parker, 92, of Rising Star, passed away Saturday, June 3, 2017 in Willow Park.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, June 7 at the Church of Christ in Rising Star. Funeral Services will be held at 1 pm at the Church of Christ with burial following the services in the Rising Star Cemetery in Rising Star.

Sybil Parker was born on Nov. 5, 1924 in Pioneer, to the late Merritt Olan and Alta Pearl Duggan-Proctor, who were both life time farmers near Rising Star.

She graduated from Rising Star High School and in 1945 married C.T. Parker Jr. from May. They met at a dance where she came with another boy and he was playing fiddle in the dance band. C.T. was a County Agricultural Agent and they lived for many years in Ballinger. While in Ballinger she was a tireless volunteer in their church and in the school. She and C.T. retired in 1977 and moved back to Rising Star, living on the ranch that has been in his family since 1880. She really enjoyed being close to her parents in their later years.

Sybil was a long time executive secretary for the Red Angus Cattle Association and she and C.T. helped grow this organization from an almost unknown breed to a well-recognized breed association.

She loved to travel, was an expert seamstress who not only made clothes for herself and her daughter but Halloween costumes and play costumes for other kids. She was also known to quietly make school clothes for kids who needed them. She was an excellent cook who loved hosting Thanksgiving and Christmas feasts, and doted on trying to fill up the hungry bellies of her rapidly growing grandsons.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan and son-in-law Doug Ginnings, both of whom now live in Rising Star; by her grandson, Joe of Austin; and her sister, Sue Jones of Fort Worth.

She was preceded in death by her husband, C.T., who passed away in 1981; and her grandson, John, who passed away in 2015.
