COLEMAN — Suzanne ‘Susie’ Bass, 82, of Coleman, passed from this life on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at 9:20 p.m. at her residence in Coleman.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 14 at First Baptist Church with the Rev. John Stanislaw, the Rev. Gary Boyd and the Rev. Dick Schultz officiating. Interment will follow at the Santa Anna Cemetery with services under the direction of Henderson Funeral Home of Coleman. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Henderson Funeral Home of Coleman.

She was born Suzanne Renegar on Aug. 26, 1934 in San Antonio, to Darwood and Lucile N. Miller Renegar. She was raised in San Antonio moving to Coleman County at age 12 being raised by John and Lucile Miller Hensley and graduated from Santa Anna High School in 1946. Susie inherited from her mother the German values of hard work. She completed formal classes to improve her talent of design and construction, and helped design the Baptist Parsonage and Family Life Center for First Baptist Church of Santa Anna. Susie married Richard Dean Bass June 1, 1982 at Fort Sam Houston, Texas and they have celebrated 35 years of marriage. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Coleman, Self Culture Club of Santa Anna, former President Ex Student Association Santa Anna High and was a homemaker and decorator.

Survivors include her husband, Dean Bass of Coleman; eight children, Suwanee Smith of Abilene, Lucinda Price of Brownwood, Robin (Ken) Roberts of Abilene, Bill (Kathy) Smith of Santa Anna, Richard (Dava) Bass of Houston,Wade (Mary) Bass of Gainsville, Joe (Sheila) Bass of Lake Charles, Louisiana, and James (Robin) Bass of Venus; brother, John S. (Peggy) Hensley of Santa Anna; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three nieces, Jenna (Tyson) Kubena, Jesse (Patrick) Kerr, and Pam Bass. 

Susie was preceded in death by her parents, Lucile (Miller) and John Hensley.
